Balancing Act

I recently read CEO of Me: Creating a Life that Works in the Flexible Job Age by Ellen Ernst Kossek and Brenda A. Lautsch. It's a business book talking about different ways people have of balancing personal life and work life in the current job age. The book presents different ways people balance their lives and some of the challenges, benefits and reasoning of the different ways. I think the ideas for creating a flexstyle (as the authors call it) that works for you depend a lot on the company for which you work, but the authors do provide some suggestions for creating a more flexible company culture. The main value of the book, for me, was an increased awareness/understanding of how or why people may go about the work-life balance the way they do. Whether you are a manager/supervisor or not, I recommend the book as an alternate way of looking at the way different people work - be they your employees or your coworkers.
